NATURION PROJECTS

Dieckbrader 2

DIECKBRADER Mitigation Bank

Dieckbrader Mitigation Bank involved decommissioning a 22-ac lake (350’ across X 23’ tall) and restoring the impounded valley through stream and wetland restoration techniques. The lake was 80 years old and had many issues concerning safety and habitat. Impairments included accumulation of sediment behind the dam; rodent burrows, embankment failures, and woody vegetation on the dam; and a deteriorating spillway.
Repairing the dam was going to be a major cost for the landowner, so the restoration project was a win-win for both WLS through development of a Bank, and a solution to the landowner’s problematic dam. The project restored > 11,000’ of stream, 8-ac of wetland, 10-ac of additional buffer, and 34-ac environmental covenant.

Faith Farms 2

Faith Farms Mitigation Bank

Faith Farms Mitigation Bank is located outside Mt. Gilead, Ohio in the Upper Scioto watershed. Project transformed 45 acres of active row crop agriculture into a wetland and stream complex in efforts to cycle nutrients, reconnect the streams with their floodplains, reduce discharges during precipitation events, create aquatic and terrestrial habitats, and protect the property in perpetuity.

Granary Mitigation 2

Granary Mitigation Bank

Granary Mitigation Bank is a large-scale restoration project located outside Bucyrus, Ohio. A majority of the restoration is along the Little Scioto River (> 12 mi2 drainage area) that was farmed adjacent to the stream. Project’s goals included creating aquatic and terrestrial habitat, floodplain reconnection, nutrient cycling, and wetland re-establishment. Project included >11,000 feet of stream restoration, 14-acres of wetland
re-establishment, and protection of 55-acres with an environmental covenant. This project was unique in that it was a Priority 2 restoration,  establishing a new floodplain at the streams existing profile, this created additional flood storage in the watershed and as a result improved the landowner’s adjacent fields by
reducing flooding.

Hodgson 2

Hodgson Mitigation Bank

Hodgson Mitigation Bank located in Licking County, Ohio restored > 14,000 feet of stream with adjacent wetland complexes. Project nearly captures the entire upper portion of the watershed in efforts to reduce offsite discharges; reconnect the stream to its original floodplain, provide habitat - in-stream and on the floodplain; geomorphically stabilize the dimension, pattern, and profile; and reforest the entire 44-acre environmental covenant.
